Full-stack development project that included converting from PHP to NodeJS and MySQL to MongoDB, with custom admin dashboard implementation.
Overview
The Telus Spin To Win project involved a complete technological overhaul of an existing promotional platform. Leading a team of three remote developers, we migrated an internal web application from legacy PHP and MySQL to a modern NodeJS and MongoDB stack.
Challenge
The existing PHP application was struggling with scalability issues during promotional campaigns when traffic would spike dramatically. The relational database structure was also creating performance bottlenecks that affected user experience.
Solution
We implemented a comprehensive migration strategy, rebuilding the application using NodeJS and Express for the backend, with MongoDB providing a more flexible and scalable database solution. The admin dashboard was completely redesigned with modern JavaScript frameworks to improve usability and provide real-time analytics.
Results
The new implementation handled traffic spikes effortlessly, with 200% improved response times during peak promotional periods. The custom admin dashboard provided marketing teams with better insights and control over promotional campaigns, resulting in a 25% increase in conversion rates.
